We asked you if being a rider was a way to support a long term ambition outside of Deliveroo, and  a lot of you said it was. So we’ve teamed up with OpenClassrooms to give you free access to hundreds of online learning options which could help you reach your goals.

This year we’re funding more than 50 scholarships to accredited associate-level degree programmes.

Either you, a family member or your subsitute can benefit from this educational opportunity, just be sure to indicate when applying who will be taking the courses. 

Web Developer: Jumpstart your career in web development by learning to build responsive, dynamic websites. Web Developers are a fundamental part of any tech team and this programme will help you build the skills and experience required for an entry-level role. As the most popular starting role for a career in web and software development, you'll be responsible for bringing mockups/designs to life by translating graphic recommendations into usable and robust web languages by writing HTML, CSS, and JavaScript code. Once you’ve graduated, a dedicated career coach will help you find your dream job in the field.

Digital Marketing: Digital Marketers leverage digital tools, including paid online advertising campaigns, landing pages on websites, emailing campaigns, search engine optimisation (SEO), as well as social media, to maximize brand awareness, and ultimately revenue. Train to be a Digital Marketer, and you'll learn how to generate leads and drive customer sales via digital marketing campaigns. You’ll also find out how to use measurable analytics to identify weaknesses and improve performance across your digital marketing channels. Once you’ve graduated, a dedicated career coach will help you find your dream job in the field.

IT Support Technician:

Enter the field of information technology by learning how to manage IT equipment and provide user support. An IT support technician is involved in all aspects of IT infrastructure, from deployment to maintenance and from security to upgrading. As an IT support technician, you’ll install and deploy a range of computer equipment (PCs, tablets, printers, software) and connect them to a wired or wireless network. You’ll maintain this equipment in working order, keep it secure, and provide regular updates. You’ll communicate with users or clients throughout a company, from management down and hardware, software, and network suppliers. To provide top-notch support, you’ll learn how to understand users’ needs and manage their stress. Finally, to excel as an IT support technician, you’ll need to be curious and resourceful! Once you’ve graduated, a dedicated career coach will help you find your dream job in the field.

What's the scholarship process?

You’ll need to give us some basic details about who you are, decide which path of study is right for you and tell us why you’re interested in a scholarship. We also ask that you submit a certificate of completion from one of the short courses OpenClassrooms offers online. The course can be on a topic of your choice. Once you’ve registered,  pick from any of the ones listed here.

Once applications close the team will be in touch with the riders who have been awarded scholarships.

Career preparation courses

This year, we’re offering new career preparation opportunities for career-minded riders in the UK.

These Ready for Work courses are completely free for you as a Deliveroo rider, and they’ll help you prepare for your professional journey in your chosen field. You’ll receive one-on-one mentorship, coaching sessions and access to career opportunities following the course. 

Worth £3,300, choose a course that suits your career interest:

All of these programmes include:

  • Weekly online one-on-one mentorship (around 45mins) to support project-based learning.
  • Access to the “Land your dream job” path. These paths include 3 projects: 'Defining career path’, ‘Prepare your job applications’ and ‘Land the job you want’ and six coaching sessions over 2 months.  OpenClassrooms will provide its reasonable efforts to help riders to find a job.

What's the Career preparation course process?

You’ll need to fill out an application form, talking about why you want to do this course & what you want as a career outcome from the course. 

We also ask that you submit a certificate of completion of one of the courses offered by OpenClassrooms online(See an example of the training completion certificate you need to provide). The course can be on any topic you choose, but must last at least 6 hours. Once your registration has been validated, choose from those listed here

You’ll also need to confirm you are able to commit to the time required for the course in your application 

After the deadline for submitting applications, our jury will contact those selected for the course - you’ll have a short call with Open Classrooms to verify that this is the right choice for you, and then you’ll be onboarded.

Courses and certificates

Choose from more than 700 free courses, including design, marketing, project management, entrepreneurship and IT skills. You can also get a Certificate of Achievement which you can use for future job applications . It’s all 100% online and 100% free, so when and where you learn is 100% up to you! 

You can also extend this learning opportunity to one additional family member who will also be able to access the online courses and get certificates in their name.
